Drift Bottle Privacy Policy

Drift Bottle lets you write a letter to your later self and seal it until a date you choose. It works entirely on your phone. There is no account, no server holding your letters, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking.
Your letters stay on your device
Letters and drafts are stored only on your device, encrypted. Photos you add to a letter are stored in the app's private folder and are protected by your device's own encryption. When a photo is saved into a letter, its location data is removed. We cannot see your letters, and we have no copy of them.
Uninstalling deletes them
If you delete the app, your letters and photos are deleted with it, and we cannot recover them. You can export any letter that has arrived as plain text through the share sheet, and you can delete one letter or all letters in the app at any time. Your device backup (iCloud) may include the app's data; your platform controls that backup.
Changing phones: an iCloud backup, an encrypted computer backup or Quick Start moves your letters, sealed ones included, to the new phone. An unencrypted computer backup does not carry the key that opens them, so letters restored that way cannot be read; the app keeps that file aside instead of deleting it.
A ritual, not a vault
The opening date is kept by your phone's clock. It is not a security lock.
Purchases
The optional one-time Premium purchase is processed by Apple. We use RevenueCat to validate it. RevenueCat receives an anonymous app-user ID and your purchase receipt so the app knows whether Premium is unlocked. It never receives your letters, photos or any other content. See RevenueCat's privacy policy: https://www.revenuecat.com/privacy
Notifications
When a letter reaches the shore, the app shows a local notification that says only "A bottle has reached the shore." It never contains your letter. The app asks for notification permission when you seal your first letter. No push token is created, and nothing is sent to a server.
Data we collect
None, apart from the purchase data above. There is no crash reporting, no advertising ID, and no access to your location, contacts, camera or microphone. Photos come only from the photo picker you open.
Children
The app is not directed to children under 13.
Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this address with a new effective date.
