Drift Bottle keeps everything on your phone, so most answers are in the app. For anything else, write to us and include your device model and iOS version.
Can you recover a deleted letter or a lost phone's letters?
No. We have no copy of your letters, and deleting the app deletes them. You can export any letter that has arrived as plain text through the share sheet, and delete one letter or all letters in the app at any time.
How do I move my letters to a new phone?
An iCloud backup, an encrypted computer backup or Quick Start moves your letters, sealed ones included. An unencrypted computer backup does not carry the key that opens them, so letters restored that way cannot be read; the app keeps that file aside instead of deleting it.
Is the opening date a security lock?
No. The opening date is kept by your phone's clock. It is a ritual, not a vault.
I am not getting the notification when a letter arrives.
The app asks for notification permission when you seal your first letter. Check that notifications are allowed for Drift Bottle in your phone's settings. The notification says only "A bottle has reached the shore."
